No configuration changes that I know of. That is a few
new, for my machine, USB devices have been connected
(flash cards) since my last successfull backup, but on
the machine itself nothing has changed hardware wise.
Hmmmm, I had this problem a month or so ago after a new install. A few
problem free backups, then I connected my digital camera via USB and
ran into the same hang on "looking for backup device". However, I
never associated the two and assumed it was something I did when
windows were popping from either CD-RW insertion or the camera
connecting (I click through/close a little to fast most of the time).
After looking for solutions for a couple of days, I just reformatted
and started over. Everything has been running fine since - backups
write to the hard drive 5 times per week via a VB script I wrote and
then burn the backups to CD-RWs through Nero using the same VB script
once a week. The two week rotation cleans off old backup data as
CD-RWs come due for an overwrite....but anyway.
Since the rebuild, I haven't connected my camera (no need). Now I am
curious - I will connect my camera when I get home to see if ntbackup
hangs again.
