XP backup and restore

J

John

If you do a backup of your boot drive (C:) using XP Backup and also
checking the box to backup the system state, can you then do a restore
to the C: drive and have that work? I tried and XP refuses to boot all
the way through. Is there any way to get this to work?

I'm trying to avoid using ASR backup because I'd like to restore the
boot disk to a smaller drive. Thanks.

To make the backup utility work, try disabling hibernation and system
restore.

An less error prone method is to use Partition Magic.

If you don't have that, use ghost to save an image, then restore it to a
smaller partition.

Or use ghost as a disk to disk copy where you can designate the target
partion size.
