I have a program that I am using on XP Pro that can not run on more than
256mb of ram. The computer has 512 which is what I need for other programs.
Is there any way to make a specific program use only 256 but leave the rest
with 512? I know you can modify the boot.ini but I dont want to do that.
thanks for all your help!

Contact the program vendor and find out what the switches are for it. If
is is an old DOS program you can limit its environment in the Shortcut
for the executable.

The problem is the vendor is out of business so I cant get any tech support
from them at all...

Are you sure that the reference is to RAM and not colours?.. some DOS
programs required 256 colour and would not run with more set..

In that case in addition to Mike Hall's reply, re-read the requirements
carefully as to the requirements for the program and quote any error
messages you receive verbatim. Also the programs name wouldn't be a bad
thing to share with the folks.

Name of the application? There is always the off-chance that
someone might recognize it and had found a solution or knows
where to locate one.
