Windows XP And ram issues

Hello, I have been reading around to try and solve this problem I have
been having. Let me first list my specs
asus P4B motherboard (2001)
Pentium 4 1.5ghz
256 pc133 ram
512 pc133 ram
512 pc100 ram

I recently installed another stick of ram a 512 pc133, yet when I boot
up it only shows 896 megabytes of ram instead of all of it. on the
startup screen it shows 832 ram, it also shows 896 ram on the computer
information. I do not use integrated graphics, so I don't think that
its taking some of my ram. Any ideas? its frustrating only getting use
of 128 megs out of a 512 card.

I made some typos in both the startup and the system information the
ram repported is 896, I also didn't install a 512 pc133, it was a pc100

The Asus web site is screwed up right now so I cannot connect to go look
at the online copy of the manual for your motherboard. So have YOU read
the manual to determine which memory configurations are allowed by the
motherboard? Some older mobos set their clock according the memory
stick put into the first slot. Did you put the slower PC-100 memory in
the first slot?

It is absolutely essential that any new RAM module(s) be fully
compatible with both the motherboard and/or any other RAM module(s)
already in the system. Additionally, there are sometimes jumper
switches on older motherboards that need to be reset for new RAM
configurations. Consult your motherboard's manual or the manufacturer's
web site for specific instructions and compatibility requirements.

If you cannot lay your hands upon the computer's manual and the
manufacturer doesn't provide a support web site, you can use these
utilities to help determine the correct type of RAM needed:

SiSoft's Sandra

Belarc Advisor

Lavalys' Everest Home

Also, Crucial Memory's web site (www.crucial.com) has a database
to help to find the right RAM for your specific make and model
computer and/or motherboard.

It is showing as a 64 meg stick in 3rd slot in 2nd slot is a 256 and in
1st slot is the 512, 1st and 2nd slot are 133's the "64" meg stick
actually a 512 pc 100.

Try re-arranging the ram sticks from slot 1 having the largest and fastest
(pc133 CS2) to the last slot containing the smallest and slowest.

I haven't bought memory in a while, but I remember that there is some high-density and low-density
memory. Only a certain type will work correctly in older systems, use a site like crucial.com to
verify that this is the correct memory for your motherboard.

Almost forgot:
Install one stick at a time and verify that the correct amount of memory is
reported during boot and within Windows.
