I installed Windows XP Home Edition after using ME. When I try to use Word
it is very slow and cumbersome. It takes about 2 minutes for Word itself or
a Word document to come up.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

If you have the Norton AntiVirus Office Plug-in, turn off that setting.

Otherwise post to one of the Word newsgroups and then MVPs there can
walk you through typical solutions.

Here is a list a Microsoft Public Newsgroups:

Note: selecting a newsgroup from the above list will also configure your
newsreader so that you can use your newsreader to access these groups vice
the awkward web interface you are using now.

There are many possible reasons, but it's difficult to know Where to begin,
since you've told us next to nothing about your computer, software
environment, etc.

But as a starter, describe your hardware. What CPU, how much RAM, etc.
Windows XP needs much more capable hardware than Me, and if you're running
on a computer that originally ran Me, it may well be underpowered.
