Connection- iLink(firewire) between Sony DCR TRV-720 and Toshiba Satellite
A75-S229 Made the connection with camera power on at boot-up, also after
boot-up, and disconnected/connected while using Movie Maker. Also XP Home
Edition/SP2-add/remove hardware dosen't recognise the camera. There isn't any
Sony software installed, nor could I locate any.

I'm using XP Professional SP2 with Movie Maker 2 and my PC120E camcorder and
like you have found that when I attempt to save the finished video via
firewire back to a blank tape on my camcorder Movie Maker crashes part way
through.I am beginning to wonder if there is a compatibility problem between
Sony Camcorders. Movie Maker 2 only uses firewire for this purpose but Sony
only provide USB drivers with their camcorders. Even the software
provided,VideoWav cannot get the job done.

When I attempt to use other programs like DVapp, WinDV etc the application
cannot find the camcorder.

Might be worth googling to see if this is a common fault.
