What is your experience with Real Player???. I know I put Real Player
on my Win 98 Computer and it caused me a lot of problems with icons
all over the place and other stuff. I didn't want.I finally
uninstalled it as best I could.

I just wonder if any of you had installed Real Player on XP and if you
were happy with it or is it as bad as ever????

Thanks

Hi

Unless you know that you are going to access some web sites that may need Realplayer for a video - I should give it a miss. It still installs all those 'extras' that aren't needed and slows a system up a fair amount.

REAL aggressively markets their players, but RealOne is less of a pain
than some of its predecessors. If you need it - for accessing sites that
specifically call for RealAudio/Video - then install carefully...

Review every prompt and screen, rejecting features such as auto-update
that you may not need, including any elements of the program that you
won't be using.

Consider configuring it to play only its own Real Media files - ones with
an R extension. These options can be chosen after install as well.

I find that RealOne co-exists fine with WMPlayer and Quicktime, but making
those utilities do so took some effort.

In addition to the other answers.... You might want to try an
alternative to RealOne or Real Player. Here's a free program that
will play all real files including streaming real media. It also
plays everything the WMP plays. Give it a try, it's free:

JetAudio www.jetaudio.com It's a 17mb download.
