I have XP on my home computer. I have a CD on learning
how to do templates that when I insert it into the drive
and the main menu comes up on the screen it says I have to
have Microsoft Access for the templates to appear in the
window for me to use. I cannot find that program anywhere
in the files contained in My Computer. How do I get it so
my template CD will work?

You can buy it on it's own, or part of Microsoft Office. See
www.microsoft.com/access.

It's funny the developers of the learning CD you have didn't anticipate
this and develop their application with the Access "runtime" to avoid
you having to buy a copy ... or for whatever reason they exepected you
to already have it. Before buying a copy, suggest you contact them and
confirm with them that you indeed need to have it.

Microsoft Access is not now nor has it ever been a part of any Windows
operating system. It is a separate application and needs to be purchased
separately. In your case, you may only need the viewer. That can be
downloaded for free:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/000/viewers.asp

I downloaded the viewer from the link you provided but it
didn't work. I'll have to contact the provider as Rob
suggested in him answer. Thanks anyway.

You're welcome, sorry it didn't work for you.

Greetings --

Microsoft Access is available for purchase where ever fine
software is sold.

That is only snapshot (for reports). I have never been able to find the
2000/2003 runtime.

Starting with the versions of 21st century Access, they packaged the
so-called "runtime" in the Office Developer versoin of Office (or some
name like that). No separate product called "Access Runtime". It took
us a while to find it once when we needed it for a project. I don't
know about Office 2003.
