XP and device manager

R

Richard Dower

So i recently installed the new Intel INF update and in device manager i
clicked on each tab under USB device to see if Windows would find something
better or leave the versions as is.

To my horrow when i click on update driver it reverted back to older drivers
that come shipped with SP1?

Why does device manager always try change drivers back to an inferior
version even though the current drivers are WHQL certified?

Because that is what Windows does. It thinks it knows better than you.
It's a reason many people use Linux so they have control over the OS.
