I've been using AOL with Windows XP for two years. I haven't seen any
problems. Are you aware that you must use AOL version 8.0 or 9.0 with
Windows XP? Older versions won't work correctly. If you're having problems,
contact AOL's Tech. Support. Their number is 1-888-346-3704. The service is
free.
AOL has "add-ons" check to see if pop-up stopper is
turned on. Uninstall AOL and then reinstall it and see if
the same thing happens. Does your machine freeze up if
you are not online? You could try downloading either Ad-
Aware or Spybot. Both are freeware and will get rid of
pop-up's, advertising and malware. I have several
students using XP and AOL with no problems.
That seems to be perfectly normal for AOL, for what I've seen over
the years.
I'm afraid you'll need to contact AOL's tech support for resolution
of problems with (or caused by) their product; Microsoft has no
control over AOL's product quality (or lack thereof).
