The problem might not be related to SP2. Spyware is the leading cause of
computer problems these days. First run a spyware cleaner. You can find more
information on spyware here http://aumha.org/win5/a/parasite.htm
You should also run Defrag after you install a large service pack like SP2.

In fact, run defrag a couple of times and REstart between
them each time.

I too have had other problems after installing SP2. Try
going the Microsoft web page and look for help directly
from them. They have a special channel just for problems
with SP2 and it is free. We haven't corrected all of my
problems to date but they are trying. I suggest going
directly into the lion's den. :) Jack

Everyone on here is talking of uninstalling it until they get it right.
Just read back up the page a bit you'll see how to uninstall SP2..

Google for <sp2 problems> Nearly a million hits. 40 pages of article.

What more proof does one need that sp2 is bad news?

With all due respect I don't see how your search is really meaningful. If
you do a search using the convection <sp2 problems> you will hit every page
that has either sp2 and problems listed on it. Therefore many hits will be
referencing the same issue over and over again. So of the 925,000 results
found on google it is really impossible to determine how many are concerning
the same issues. More importantly though some of the returns will be
referring to problems actually fixed by SP2.

Yes it is true that SP2 causes problems with some hardware. Read Chris
Quirke MVP's page here as an example http://cquirke.mvps.org/sp2intel.htm
However many of the problems that happen as a result of installing SP2 can
be avoided if one does some basic research before they install the pack.
