XP Administrator Account is Locked

Sudhir K

Hi,

OS of my PC is Windows XP. And my username was from 'Administrators'
group of my PC. Today I entered 2-3 times a wrong password for my a/c
and it got locked.

Now even if I enter the correct password for my username, it's not
allowing me to log-in saying that 'a/c is locked'.

I don't know Administrator's username / password. How can I unlock my
user.

Will you please help me.

Thanks,

Sudhir

John, thanks for your reply. I've already tried it. Unfortunately
adminstrator's password is not blank and I don't know what's that
password. :-(

Can I at-least access my folders on the PC, with a command-prompt-boot
or with another bootable disk etc?
I've tried but it wasn't successful. Even if I press F8 while the
machine is booting and try to go to 'Command Prompt', it still asks me
the login name and password.

Please help.

Thanks,
Sudhir

Boot with NTpasswd and change the Administrator password to a blank.
Then you can get into the system and reset any locked accounts, change
passwords, etc.

The locked user account should unlock automatically after 15 minutes,
unless you've (or someone else with access to your computer) changed the
default setting.

If you can't wait that long (or if the time period is too long for your
present needs), simply log in using the built-in Administrator account
(which cannot be deleted) and modify the desired account. By design, the
only way to log into the Administrator account of WinXP Home is to
reboot into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at
the Welcome Screen will produce the standard login dialog box.
