Number lock #3

FLKULCHAR

I knoe my registry number lock is set to 2 correctly as follows:

HKey_Current_User
Control Panel
Keyboard
InitialKeyboardIndicators set at..."2",

If my sing-in name as administrator requires a password, tnan I LOSE the
number lock automation and I must manually turn it on!

Nowever, If I do NOT require a password (In other words, make my user name
password frr), than I do NOT nave to manually set the number lock!

Can anyone please fix this for me...because, before I had my Windows XP
reinstalled, after my virus last week, it worked fine...however, now it does
NOT...when I require a password to log on.

Thanks,

Can you *please* stop making separate posts about the same issue! Keep all
your posts in one thread. Bruce Chambers already answered this in your last
thread. For your convenience, here is his answer again:

[begin quote] By default, the NumLock key is turned off as WinXP starts, and
keeps it off until someone logs in and initializes a user profile. WinXP
will remember the NumLock's last state, meaning that if you log out with
the NumLock on, it will automatically turn on the next time you log in;
If you log out with the NumLock off, it will be off the next time you
log in.

"If one needs the NumLock on _before_ logging in, a registry edit
can be used to change WinXP's default behavior:

I posted the key yesterday. It will turn the numlock on before logon.

Run the following two commands either from the "Run" box on the 'Start
Menu' or from a 'Command Prompt' window.

reg ADD "HKCU\Control Panel\Keyboard" /v InitialKeyboardIndicators /d 3
/f

reg ADD "HKU\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard" /v
InitialKeyboardIndicators /d 3 /f

(The above commands should both be one liners but may not appear so due
to line-wrap. Please ensure that both the commands begins with 'reg'
and end with '/f')

*Note - Please exercise care when editing the registry, always create a
backup and / or create a 'System Restore' point first.

....this should sort out your computer and have the 'nimlock' in the 'on'
state each time your computer starts.
