Hi

I am doing some work for a company who have 2 PC's which currently do not
have valid product keys associated to them so I purchased 2 valid ones for
them. The 2 PC's are running XP Pro

I have tried to place these keys onto the system but for some reason they
keep failing & was wondering, do I need to deactivate the invalid keys (by
modifying the registry) & then activate using the valid keys

or

do I do a XP repair option on these pc's, will this ensure that the 2 PC's
then have valid keys?

I have tried using the Xppid but this did not work so would be grateful if
someone can point me in the right direction

Many thanks

If you are trying to install a WinXP Service Pack and getting the
following:

The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid

You need to purchase and a _legitimate_ retail or OEM full license
of WinXP Pro to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation,
using the new CDs and Product Keys.
