XP invalid key error with confirmed valid key code.

Had to install new motherboard. Tried to reinstall windows xp pro., but
original cd key gave an invalid error. Called tech support and received new
key code to use. Still receiving invalid key code error. Called tech
support - told new key code is valid and this has to be a hardware problem.
Home built pc, cannot go to manufacturer for support. Please offer
assistance.

You need to use installation media that matches whatever version the key is
for. IOW XP Pro retail or XP Pro OEM. It sounds like your installation
media doesn't match. You haven't provided any other information so that's
as specific as I can get.
