XP 64 Blank (light blue) screen display

After installing win-XP 64 on AMD 64 system 512meg mem ATI raedon videocar
it Goes all the way through the install, reboots as normal, show the win xp-64 startup screen then displays the main window. BUT, no Icons, start menu - just light blue screen

In safe mode the screen appears just fine

Anyone any ideas?
