XP 64 bit Beta

Are many of you running the beta of XP 64?

Is it difficult to set up to dual boot with XP Pro?

I wouldn't mind giving it a try.

Hi,

I thought about doing it, signed up and got my key. Thought about it a
second time. I won't waste my bandwidth downloading an OS that won't
support a big part of my hardware.
If I switched, I'd have to replace at least my scanner, my ISDN card, my
TV-box, my DVB-box. Also some hardware-related software like CD burning
needed to be upgraded.
So I decided to stick with W2kSP4 which is running fine on my system. Maybe
I'll try linux, there are chances that my peripherals and add-on cards will
work.

You'd need an empty partition on your HDD or better a second HDD. That
should work.

No, Dual Boot is essentially fully automatic. You must have another disk
partition (on same disk or on different disk, doesnt matter). You cannot
get Dual Boot if you have only one disk partition at C:

Then when you install XP, you simply specify to install that system at a
different disk partition than the first system, for example at D: instead
of C:

Then when you boot, you get a menu to select which installation that you
boot into, on C: or D: for example. Menu has a default which it will select
after timeout. You can configure that menu to a different default system
and a different timeout at Control Panel - System - Advanced - Startup.

I installed the XP64 beta via Dual Boot. I cant tell any difference, except
I have very few drivers now, and old Dos stuff cant run. I'm gonna need
more reason. :)
