Xferring files from Windows 95 machine

Doug

Need to get files from an old Windows 95 machine onto new
Windows XP. The Files and Settings Transfer Wizard
requires that the old machine have at least Explorer 4.0,
but it has Explorer 3.X. Tried to download a newer
Explorer, but Microsoft is only downloading 6.0, which
can't run on Windows 95. So... do I need to upgrade the
OS on the new computer? (Which I would rather not do.)

OR - is there an alternate solution. Old computer just
has a CD-ROM and a floppy drive. It does have an
available serial port, and does have a network card, but
I don't want to have to set up network, just to transfer
files.

Suggestions?

Doug;
Cheapest and easiest is a network with a crossover cable.
Or copy (do NOT use Backup) the data to floppy.

Larry;
A crossover Ethernet cable is a special type of network cable.
Normally used to connect two computers directly without a hub etc.
With a regular network cable, you also need something like a hub in
the middle.

For more details and how to, go to Help and support and search for
"peer to peer"
