xbox 360 receiver

Ok so i got the receiver and tried to hook on the wirless contoller but to no
avail'The controller is detected but withno functionality whatsoever any
suggestions?

What games are you trying the controller in? Not all games support
controllers.

To test if the controller is working goto Control Panel -> Game Controllers.
Assuming the controller is connected successfully you'll have a couple of
graphs showing movement for the analogue sticks and buttons for the rest of
the controller.

If it isn't connected make sure to press the Sync buttons on both.
