X800XT PE problems...

Hi,

I have tried to install a Asus AX800XT PE in two different systems
now. In one of the systems I also tried to reinstall Windows. The
problem I have is listed on ATIs Web-site, but I can't get the
solution to work. In the same systems I have used other ATI-based
boards, e.g. a X800 Pro from Sapphire.

The problem is in a way this:
http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4621.html -- I get the same error
message (Record not found on MSI.DB -- well, the real one is actully
spelled wrong: Record not find on MSI.DB).

I have tried with everything from Cat 4.6 to 4.9, and the 8.07 beta
and the latest Omega-drivers. Nothing seems to work -- same
errormessage (well, not with the Omega-drivers, but they would work
either).

The systems I have tried the card in both have Windows XP with SP2.
The motherboards in these systems are Intels own 875P-board in one,
and Asus SK8V in the other.

The message from ATI is related to when there have been ATI-based
products in the PC earlier -- since I reinstalled on the system that
had this, and the other never had a other ATI-based product, this
don't seem to be the problem.

Have tried searching through some forums and it seems like others also
have this problem with different types of ATI-based boards.

Any suggestions?

Btw -- also have tried installing the drivers without using the
setup-file, but through "the update driver" in device manager. Aslo
tried Asus' own driverset for the board.....

got a high quality PSU atleast 450 watts Antec!

I don't think this is the problem (the FSP-units are of good quality).
If I have had stabilitytrouble with 3D, where CPU and GPU-load is
heavy, I might been wondering about changing the PSU, but I don't
think that is the case here.

I not installed the board in a third PC. Also this with Intels own
875P-board and a FSP-350, but this with a 2,4 GHz Pentium 4 Northwood.

For me it might seem like there is something wrong with the board
because Windows will not recognize it at all also when trying to
install the drivers "manualy" though the driver update.

After a complete format of the hard-disk ?

If not, all bets are off....

If YES, then did you install the motherboard driver
( INF for Intel ) ?
