I called this morning to ask if they got their 6/28 shipment. They
didn't, and now they are saying 7/3 like you heard. I have my fingers
crossed.. but I'm starting to wonder why they didn't get the shipment
like they said they would.
Shit, at that price they can take another 2-3 weeks for all I care.
Doom3 isn't shipping until Aug 3 .. so they got some time before I
have a cow.

I'll be away from the 7th on for a week, maybe it will be here when I
get back. Either way, i'm running a 9800 Pro right now so I can wait
as long as I have to..

I called just now and got "Mark" who said they'll be getting there
shipment tomorrow and I should see it by Thursday. If you give up ..
best buy has then on backorder for $359. You'll have to wait until
7/20 though. At that rate its worth it to wait for Outpost I think.

I called today around 12:00CT and got Mark on the phone as well. H
said that they were due in today and that they typically receiv
shipments later in the afternoon.
The wait is frustrating, but the fact that I'm saving $70 off the MSR
($400) and NOT paying tax (8.75% here) means that I'll save about $10
compared to buying the card locally.
This is going to be a nice upgrade from my TI4400!! :

OMG yes it is! I had a 4400 before I got my 9700 PRO! Wow.. I'd love
to see your face when you fire up your favorite game with the new
X800. It's going to be crazy fast compared.
My tax just went up .25% and now we have 8.75 here too.
PS..make sure you wipe out the old drivers completely though..
drivecleaner or better yet.. a fresh install of your OS

Ok, I just got off the phone with them again...

all of their pre-orders.
I asked the woman on the phone where I was in line and she didn't know
she did tell me that they currently have 94 of these video cards o
backorder.
She also has no idea as to when they will be receiving any more cards.
They currently have 150 on order with no estimated date.
Geez... it would certainly be nice if they would give this kind of inf
to me in an e-mail periodically.
I'm going to keep my eyes peeled and if I see a comparable deal, I'l
cancel my order with Outpost.com

Oh this is not good news. I had a feeling something was going to go
wrong. At $329 I imagine they did sell alot and it will take a long
time for them to fill 150 cards.. sigh.
Going to be tough finding a better deal.. but I hear ya.

Did you ever see Shawshank Redemption? You know the part where the gu
sends letters requesting funds for a prison library everyday for year
and years? They finally replied with a donation and ask him to sto
sending letters.
I think I'm going to do that... maybe they'll send me an XT and ask m
to stop bugging them about the X800 Pro!!
I wish I had caught that $329 deal at Buy.com on the 6800GT... I'd hav
snapped that one up and canceled my outpost.com order

guys. Since they haven't taken any cash from you they can screw around for
weeks and not be legally obligated to deliver the goods. Looks like they
are hoping you'll get tired of the wait and cancel the order. Could be
wrong and I hope not for your sakes. I got a ATI X800pro from them ($399) a
month ago and can't complain about the service but this is getting very

My thought exactly, I'm sure we're at the bottom of the list to
replenish the stock since they're making more money on the stores that
are selling it at $399.99 or even HIGHER(!?). Why would they want to
fullfill a 150+ order from a store that's sold them at $329 before the
others that have the nice margin? Its what I would do.
They kinda got us over a barrel though, I'll be damned if I'm going to
cancel a $70+ savings. I just hope its here by Doom3 next month.

I hear ya. I missed out on a Gateway special that was selling the X800
XT PE for $435 shipped!! That's what got me looking for 'deals'. I
thought the Outpost one was a good find but I think I inadvertently
contributed to my delay in getting MINE after I started this thread!

I got that email as well Icer and it looks like my suspicions are
correct, they aren't to happy with having to supply a vendor that sold
a card at $329 when it's going for OVER list price everywhere else!
Pretty crappy of whoever made that decision. I've called and let them
know it's okay to leave it on indefinite backorder with the option to
cancel if I so choose. I'm now in the same boat and will be keeping an
eye out on good deals.. but with the inventories so low right now on
PRO and XT models it's going to be tough.

Gateway sometimes has a special, we also might want to try Dell. Time
to get creative.
