setup home ntwk using Wxp LAN to Wme LAN thru 3com 8port hub. Used Wxp home
ntwk wizard on the Wme pc. I DID tranfer a text doc yesterday so I know the
hub is wking, but now........

PC1 runs Wxp and is connected via dialup to internet.
Wme is PC2 .
PC1 can see PC2 shared doc folders but not open them.
PC1 does not show either PC in workgroup

PC2 can see itself but not PC1 nor its folders

error message on LAN connection on PC1 is either "limited or no connection"
or "mshome is not accessible-you may not have permission"

any help appreciated
Thanks

This is very likely a browser conflict. Disable the Browse Master on the

There is absolutely no reason to mangle words in the way you do above.

Additional info I just noticed.... the Wme (PC2) on boot gives this message-
"no domain server was able to validate your password".

I disabled master browser on Wme (PC2) as per instr. and now when I click on
entire network I get this mssg- "unable to browse/gain access to
network...this may be for number of reasons"

How do I get each PC to "ping" itself and/or the other PC?

I am very leery of all the remote logon/user and messenger functions in
system services of Wxp so have shut some off. How can I reset these services
to the original default to see if this is causing PC1 (Wxp) to not see itself
in the workgroup computers location?

Thanks

Open a command window (Start - Run - "cmd"). Type "ping (computername)" (less
the "").

Did you shut those services off in the Services wizard? Start each one the set
its startup type to Automatic. Here's a guide to services:
