WTB: Canon LBP-860 formatter board

Hello all!

A few years ago, my Canon LBP-860 started refusing to print. I took
it to the local printer repair shop, and they said it needed a new
formatter board, BUT they couldn't get one. This printer is mostly the
same as an HP Laserjet 4, but printerworks.com says it takes a unique
formatter board ( CNT-0001-000 ), which they don't have either. I still
have the corpse of the printer and if I can find the board somewhere,
it'd be nice to get it going again.

Are there any other "usual suspects" for parts like this? Used is OK.
If somebody has an old LBP-860 (that died of something other than brain
failure) lying around, let me know if you'd consider selling me the
board out of it.

Thanks!

It's a very long shot but just maybe a laserjet 4 formatter would work, HP no
longer sells them but they are often available from parts resellers and on
e-bay.
There may be some incompatibility between this formatter and the printer but
since Canon built the Laserjet 4 engine you just may have a chance. Some
research is recommended, there may be some here who could tell you whether it
would work or not.
Before you commit, make sure that the engine is the same as the LJ4 as opposed
to the LJ4+ which uses different components and almost certainly needs
different parameters in the formatter. Obviously you would need to use LJ4
drivers (built in to most recent Windows systems).
Good luck
