wrong password in dial up window

When I dial up on my standard modem, the wrong password
is always there and I have to delete it, and enter the
right one. Anyone know how to correct this - believe me,
I've tried!
 
Have you tried just connecting? XP masks passwords by adding or removing
characters from the way they "appear". This makes it harder to guess based
on length.

From an old quote by an MVP, "Don't panic!! Your password is correct, it
just looks wrong!"
