Wrong name during setup

I am the second owner of a 3 month old laptop with XP.
The original owner used random letters like dgfjlersg as
his name. Unfortunately, this became the name of the
registered owner and the name of a key directory under
documents and settings.

I followed microsoft's recommendation of how to change
name and company information after install of XP. This
worked partically since it did change the name of the
registered owner to my name. However, it did not affect
the directory under documents and settings.

My question is how to change the directory name under
documents and settings to my name?

You can't change the directory name.

Create a new user for yourself and logon with that user to create a new
profile. If you don't need the old profile, then logon with the local
adminstrator account and delete it. If you do need the old profile, use
system properites, advanced, user profiles and copy the old profile (old
directoryname) to your new account.

Log back one with the new account to test. Then log back on as the
administrator and delete the old profile.
