wrong hardware enumeration

In the device manager the network adapter was listed as "3com 905c
network adapter#1. Then I removed the driver and reinstalled the driver
again. Now the network adapter is listed as "3com 905c network adapter
#2" and I only have one adapter installed. Is there a way to
reset/correct this enumeration problem?

Delete it from here: Start/Run/Regedit
