I'm trying to install a new programme on a laptop. I have copied the
installation file from my main computer - but when I run the installation,
the Swedish characters Å Ä Ö are renderad as cyrillic characters. On the
main computer the installer runs OK.

What can have caused this, and what can I do to get the correct characters?

Internet Explorer has a setting that lets you select the character set
to be used. I suspect that your new program has a similar setting.

Look at your Windows setting fro System Code Page (System Locale) -
it's in Control Panel/Regional Options - "Advanced" tab -
"Language for non-Unicode programs" -

probably you have "Russian" or another Cyrillic language there.

Thank you Paul!

Yes, that was exactly the cause of the problem. I'm using your instructions
for writing Russian, but on the main computer I have "Swedish" in that
place, while for some reason "Russian" was entered on the laptop. When I
changed to "Swedish", everything worked OK.

Great help!
