written over .pst files

while trying to back up my .pst files using 2000, I have
written over them instead.

Can any one help, please to retrieve the lost .pst file. I
have contacted Dell and Microsoft and both say " sorry it is
gone".

Can anyone help, please, please, please.

Do you still have the .pst files on your computer? How many do you have?
How big was the active .pst file? What are the dates on the files?

Have you tried running scanpst.exe against the files?
