Writing to CD

When I write files from another disk or try to "save as"
to the CD, the file comes across as a read only file.

How can I change this so I can write to a CD and then
take it with me, work on files and then be able to save
them appropriately.

Files on CD's must be read only. If you burn the file to a CD-RW you can
burn it, edit on on the other PC's, then burn it back to the CD-RW. this
will over write the first fill and just give you the edited one. Before you
burn the files to CD's, you mut first save it to the hard drive. Dont try
and save directly to the CD. If you wish to save directly to a CD you will
need to purchase "packet writing" software like Nero's InCD or Roxio's Drag
2 Disc.

All files burned to a CD will be read-only. If you copy
those files from the cd back to another computer
somewhere they will still be read-only. But, you can
change it once it's back on another computer. To change
the read only attribute, (after it's on a computer again
and not a cd.) Right click it, and hit properties, then
click the archive box. And uncheck the read only box.

CDs are by their nature, write-once media. You can not modify and
rewrite files on them. So by definition, once written, files on
them are read-only.

If you want that capability, you should be using a CDRW drive and
media.
