these are the steps from win xp pro help file to write to a cd, I can do
steps 1-5, but step 6 says, " Under CD Writing Tasks click Write these files

can I get to the cd writing wizard ???

help instructions

To copy files and folders to a CD
--------------------------------------------
1.Insert a blank, writable CD into the CD recorder.

2. Open My Computer.

3. Click the files or folders you want to copy to the CD. To select more
than one file, hold down the CTRL key while you click the files you want.
Then, under File and Folder Tasks, click Copy this file, Copy this folder,
or Copy the selected items. If the files are located in My Pictures, under
Picture Tasks, click Copy to CD or Copy all items to CD, and then skip to
step 5.

4.In the Copy Items dialog box, click the CD recording drive, and then click
Copy.

5.In My Computer, double-click the CD recording drive. Windows displays a
temporary area where the files are held before they are copied to the CD.
Verify that the files and folders that you intend to copy to the CD appear
under Files Ready to be Written to the CD.

6.Under CD Writing Tasks, click "Write these files to CD". Windows displays
the CD Writing Wizard. Follow the instructions in the wizard.

If you click file at the top left of your screen you will then be able to click the "write these files to CD." A much easier way to do this would be to right click on the file of your choice then click "send to" and then click the drive that has the CD in it. Usually D: Once you do that you will then get a little icon down beside the clock or in that area(system tray) and you can continue to add files in this way or simply double click the icon in the system tray to open the GUI(Graphic User Interface) showing the files waiting to be written to the CD. Then in this window click the "file" on the tool bar at the top and then click "write these files to CD" and that should do it for you. Let us know how you do. {:~)

Open your cd drive from my computer. On the file menu
select tools>folder options. Under the general tab
select 'Show common tasks.

it already is selected

There is nothing in the top left part of the screen about the cd drive

"send to" for whatever reason does not recognize my drive (E:) My computer
shows it as does explorer. i can eject the disc so my system knows it is
there.

any other thoughts

This would be when you have double clicked the CD buirner's icon in My
Computer (not Explorer); there should be a left hand panel for these.

If it is not there - just an ordinary drive one, then right click on
the drive icon instead, Properties - Recording and check 'Enable
Recording'., and Apply.

If there is no panel at all, go to
Control Panel - System - Advanced - Performance click Settings - and
make sure in the Panel that 'Show common tasks in folders' is checked
