"Write these files to CD" doesn't work from windows explorer

I can write files to my CD using the My Computer interface by right clicking
on my CD device (the CD Writing Wizard appears as expected).

But if I open the CD via explorer, clicking the "Write these files to CD"
task under "CD Writing Tasks" in the left pane does NOT invoke the CD Writing
Wizard. In fact, nothing happens, no error nothing.

It's very annoying to have to remember to go to the My Computer interface
and right-click to write my CD.

Any advise?

Thanks - Rhonda

Hi Rhonda,

A third-party shell extension may be blocking the "Write these files to CD" functionality. Try the steps given in "Method 2" in this link:

Ramesh,

Thanks for the response. I tried that just now but it didn't fix the
problem. I only had 2 non-microsoft context menu extensions and neither were
the culprit.

Any other advise?

Rhonda,

Login as Administrator (or equivalent). Click Start, Run and type:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

Press {ENTER}

This fixes the CD Burning Shell Folder in case it's corrupt/missing.

That's it! That worked!!!!!!!!! I can successfully launch the CD Writing
Wizard within explorer on the CD drive (and of course still by right-clicking
the CD device from My Computer)!!!!!!!

I've had this issue for almost 2 years and finallly thought to check these
newsgroups and I'm glad I did!!!!!!!

Thank you so much Ramesh!
