write to cd - wizard stops

i am using XP home, and have a yamaha[scsi] 16x16x40 cdrw
which is recognized by windows, works fine, can play a
music cd. however, when i use the wizard to write data
files to cd, after i type the name of the cd file, click
next, it says there is no disc in the drive, but i will
have a blank cdrw in the drive, and click again...nothing
happens. has this happened to anyone else? i have some
music programs that recognize the cdrw[acid 3.0,wavelab
3.0,and cubasis]. thanks for any help you can give
me...d.k.
