write protection

i have a removable disk on my computer which is my mp3 player and when i want
to transfer my files on to the removable disk it says that the disk is write
protected and i need to remove the write protection or use another disk. How
di i remove the write protection please help!

What MP3 player are you using? There may be a setting on the actual unit that you have to enable to allow what you are trying to do. For example with the Apple iPod (the older ones) there is an on/off setting to allow photo import.

Another alternative to see if you computer recognizes the player as valid external storage is to go to the Control Panel and open Administrative Tools. Open the Computer Management shortcut and if your MP3 player is attached and it is readable as an external storage device it should be visible here. Be very careful using this option as it's possible to do any number of things to your computer from here.
