write protected

How do you remove a write protected on a cd rom ? I want to
reinstall a cd rom but it wont let me remove the icon it says
can't delete because it is write protected, please remove write
protected or insert other cd. this is a guitar lesson cd purchased from a
store it is not a cd i bured.
 
Uh...It's a CD-ROM, you cannot delete something from it, as the entire CD is
read only.

You don't "install" a CDRom, you *run* it.

Browse the CD and double-click on Setup.exe

So i can't uninstall this at all? i have other cd 's that i uninstall all
the time .
lets make sure i am telling you what this really is. A cdrom is a cd with
information

You don't. That's the nature of CD-ROMS. They are read-only.
That's what the "RO" in "ROM" stands for--"read-only."

Close, but no, it's "memory."
 
Just for anyone who also didn't know :)

CD-ROM = Compact Disc Read Only Memory
CD-RW = Compact Disc Read/Write
CDR = Compact Disc Recordable
WORM = Write Once, Read Many (What CDR's used to be called)

Thanks Gorda when you run this it puts an icon in your floder right . Well i
want to
clear this icon but when i hit delete this icon in my documents
[delete from my documents] then re run but it says i cant delete because icon
it's write protected and to remove it so i can. any thoughts , thanks
