This computer is new. It runs windows XP. I have saved a
document to a cd. When I went to save another it tells me
that the CD is full. I know this is not true. I
understand that I need to "un-write-protect" this disk,
but I do not know how.

Perhaps you "finalised" the cd-r when you burnt it. If it's a cd-rewritable
disk you can erase and reuse it, after copying that original file back to
hard-disk if it's the only copy you've got !

You simply need to look more carefully at the settings in force, in your
burning software before burning to disk, and choose something similar to "Do
not finalize disk."

This may not apply, but I learned that the supplied 'burning' program in
"XP" treats CD-RWs as if they were CD-Rs because you can not 'format' them
with the "XP" system. Only 'floppys' can be formatted. I am about to buy a
third party program from Iomega, but there are others out there. CGS
