Write protected memory stick!!!!!!

I'm using a usb memory stick with which I've been able to delete, copy and
paste from and to hard-drive with no problems. However, after not using it
for a week or so when I try to modify anything on it now I get a message
telling me its write-protected and to remove write-protection. how do I do
this????

Mine has a little switch on it for just this purpose.
