WPS Files

I just installed XP and am unfamiliar with all the files. Can any tell me
what a WPS file is and how to open it? I had saved this file as a word
document on a CD along with other word documents, and when I pulled up the
files from this CD, the one document only came up as a WPS file.

Memory's a bit hazy on this, but might it be a Microsoft Works file?
Works uses a number of W?S extensions.

If so, try reading it into Excel (Access can't read Works files
directly).
