Wow...don't mean to sound like I'm Trolling, but...

All these problems are similar to what gets posted when a new version of
Linux gets released...USB doesn't work, can't access files, etc, etc...

Trouble is, you don't pay through the nose for a new release of Linux!
When you consider what MS wants for a copy of Vista, and how much testing
it went through, you'd figure they'd have gotten it right before
unleashing it to the public.

I had to buy a copy of XP Pro for something I was doing at work, I think
I'll stick to it until the next MS OS comes out. Seems every other one is
worthy...

I'm not saying Linux is any better, by a long shot. If you're used to MS
products and all they can do, Linux may not be for you! But, you can also
get it for the 'price' of a Saturday afternoon of downloading. I expect
more from MicroSoft!

Releasing to the public with possibly millions of different hardware and
software configurations that would be impossible to test inhouse, or
even with the beta's? :)

If XP works for you, keep it. Vista is nice, but if you don't need the
upgrade, hold off. Sure, it's got bugs, but Linux does, too. Patches are
released somewhat steadily from both sides.

I have an installed copy of RC1. The only real complaint I have is that it
doesn't like my DSL router. I have to put the machine to 'sleep' and then
wake it up to connect. No amount of fussing with the NIC or Nework setup
solved this problem.

That, and the amount of resorces it uses. 1G of memory for an OS?!?!?
Of course, with the RC1 package, you got Ultimate, with Media Center,
Aero, etc. Except for the network problem, it does work well.

I just bought my copy of XP 6 months ago...I'll wait! ;)

Of course a big difference is that there are hundreds of thousands if not
millions out there upgrading all at once today, and the average Linux user
has to be more technically savvy than the average windows user and so I
believe is more likely to be able to solve his own problem.

Upgrade to 2GB of RAM and you'll notice it's gone too. Vista caches core
parts of the OS to speed it up. If an application needs the memory,
Vista will take other parts of out the RAM cache to give to the app. It
only NEEDS 512MB, approx to run.

I commonly see 60% of my 2GB in use without doing any heavy lifting. Better
the ram than the paging file!

Now that is just not sound marketing! :p

Ever notice that you can sell something for a couple of bucks that no one
will take for free? When I worked in a computer store we got in a game
called "Libyans in Space" that was so awful that the distributor refunded
them for us without even taking the software back. We tried to give them
away and just got suspicious stares from the customers. So we priced them
at a quarter. Both sold immediately.

I'd like to see MS acknowledge that while they are touting their state
of the art automated testing environment. I mean they did supposedly
spend $5 billion creating VISTA.

No Linux distro can compare to Vista or even XP. I tried several out of
curiosity and had MAJOR PROBLEMS with all of them. Why should I have to use a
command line to get the OS to recognize my digital camera?
