wotr installation success

well jimmy i have persevered, i guess. even though i would clean the
registry, i was unable to fully uninstall and reinstall or repair the war of
the ring game. i used a "shotgun" approach. even though i was cleaning the
registry and restarting the pc afterwards, the registry maybe was reading
something from the installation disk,?, and the reg entries were still
present. i removed the disk and restarted after i clean the reg entries. so
i then restored the pc to a happier time. the desktop link remained but the
files were gone so when i put the disk in the last time i was given the
option to repair the game this time. i repaired the game and all is good for
it, but at a cost. i lost the reg cleaner i purchased via download as well
as the recently installed battle for middle earth game.
now for the true rookie question... is there a way to retrieve these
programs or should i download and/or install them fresh from disk as
appropriate to each case?

Hi Mr Happy,

It's not like there is a choice here. :)

We've accomplished the first goal - Installing that game.
Now it's just a matter of reinstalling those other two programs
that were uninstalled as a result of the restore process. :)
