How can I convert Works.wps files to Word 2002?

Thank you for your complete and prompt answer. It was exremely useful.
I did not realise that Word 2002 could decode works.wps because when I
looked at Woed it had the all tooo familiar small rectangles and
othermiscoding. However after resding your note I went back and tabbed down
to the correctly decoded message. Does it always behave this way?

Beats me, Alan. I have Word 2002, but no *.wps files. I do have Works
Suite , but it came with Word 2002, not the other Word Processor that you
get with just Works.

I am having trouble converting my .wps files so they can be read in Word
2002. I have downloaded and installed Works 6.0 converter. However, when I
open a .wps file in Word, I get a message that I need to install a converter
- which I thought I already had! The window asks me to insert a disk. Is
there something I've missed in installing the converter?

Help!

Wendy, you are probably being asked for your original Word 2002 disk to
be inserted - just stick it in when asked.
