working in offline mode

my outlook suspends for a long time by trying to connect to Exchange Server
when in offline mode. during this time i cannot send/receive mails and have
to wait long. what and how should i configure in Outlook to skip trying to
establish connection to Exchange?

If you are in Offline Mode (File-> Work Offline), you don't have any
connection to the Exchange server at all so that probably isn't the issue.
Care to clarify yourself a bit more? Also, don't leave out any configuration
details for us to work with.
