I have run the Network setup wizard without problems. I have changed the
computer name and assigned it to the right workgroup. I set the netbios
tcp/ip to enabled. I set the computer browser in services. I made sure the
firewall had the network in its exceptions. I made sure the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\restrictanonymous key
was set to "0". I can ping successfully the ip addresses for the other
computers on the network. I have internet access and can access the router in
the browser. The computer has an ip address in the DCHP. I have tried both on
wireless and ethernet.
I cannot find a network printer on the network or find printers attached to
the other computers.
The only thing that changed is I installed OMNIPAGE Pro version15 and
accessed a public network at a local hospital. I have followed most of the
steps found in Microsoft Knowledge base.

If someone has any thoughts, other than reinstall Windows XP Pro, I would be
grateful.

Sound like name resolution issue. Can you ping the remote device by name?

I can ping 192.168.1.101, however I cannot ping Client hostname,
"HOMESERVER". This just happened after installing the upgrade to OMNIPAGE or
when I logged on at the hospital to get my emails.

As said you may have a name resolution issue. Posting the results of both computers' ipconfig /all here may help.

Thanks for your help but I found a solution, I deleted the DHCPnodetype key
in the registry and after restarting the computer I could access the
workgroup and all the computers and printers. The system was set to peer to
peer and because I logon to two different networks it got confused.
