Workgroup Settings

We have a simple LAN system at work. I can connect our
computers to the LAN by changing the Workgroup to the
workgroup we are using. I am successful with
Win2k/WinXP; however, nothing shows up when I changed the
workgroup on the PCs with Win2k Japanese version.
Because of this situation, they can't access our network
printers nor access our corporate office's VPN; however,
both versions can connect to the Internet and receive
emails with no problems.

I logged onto their PC as Administrator (Win2k
Japanese). I went to Control Panel/System to change the
workgroup on all the PCs. I checked the TCP/IP settings
on the LAN connection properties to verify they are on
Auto-assign.

I don't think I forgot anything. English version Win2k
seems to work with the steps that I did. Can someone
help?

Can you ping other workstations by IP address ... my guess is
yes.
Can you ping other workstations by ComputerName ... my guess is
no.
At a command prompt enter "ipconfig /all" without the quotes ...
what is displayed for Node Type?

The Node type is "Broadcast". The "IP Routing Enabled"
is set to Yes and "DNS Suffix Search List" is set to
anelva.com.

I tried my PC (WIN XP). The Node type is Unknown and DNS
Suffix Search List is No.

Do I change the above items or is there other steps that
I must follow?
