I may be in the wrong newsgroup. We have a simple LAN
system at work. I am able to connect our PC with Win2k
and WinXP (English) version to our network. They are
able to access our printer server and VPN. The PCs with
Japanese Win2k doesn't connect.

I originally sent this request on General; however, it
may be down. I was asked to check the Node Type
with "ipconfig/all". I compared the PCs with Win2k and
WinXP that are working. The WinXP PCs' Node Type
is "Unknown". The Win2k PCs' Node Type is "Broadcast".
I did noticed that "IP Routing Enabled" is set to No. I
checked the PCs with Japanese Win2k and found the setting
to be Yes. Is this the problem? How can I change "IP
Routing Enabled" to No.

Please help.

Thanks,
Raymund

You only need to have "IP routing enabled" set to one if your machine is
acting as an IP router. You should not need this on the workstation.

Check that both machines have IP addresses in the same IP subnet and use
the same netmask (eg both have say 192.168.0.x addresses and 255.255.255.0
mask or 169.254.x.x mask 255.255.0.0).
