Workgroup Problems

I have a database set up on our department server. We are running Access
2002 which is installed on the individual pc's. My problem is that when
certain programs are changed (MS Office), it switches the user back to the
Access default system.mdw. This allows the user to get into the database as
if there was no security set up. In esscence they are considered the
Administrator. Is there a way to fix this?

Yes, apply security properly. Users should not be considered an Admin when they
use a different MDW file. They shouldn't be able to open the file at all unless
they use the mdw file you used to aply security.

The default user "Admin" should own nothing in your file and have permissions to
nothing in your file. The default User Group "Users" should likewise have zero
permissions to anything in your file.

Rick,

That takes care of it! I inherited this database and didn't realize that it
was set up that way. Thanks a bunch for the help!
