workgroup computers

I have a desktop PC and a laptop both wired to my router. Both can access the
internet fine. The laptop and the desktop have both had the network
connection wizard run on them. When I try to view workgroup computers from
"my network places" I get an error message that read "*my network name* is
not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.
Contact the administrator of this service to find out if you have access
permissions. The network path was not found." From the laptop I can't access
files from the desktop or print through the printer that is connected to it.
From the desktop i can't access files from my laptop, (and yes, files are in
folders that have had access permissions set for them).

The single most common cause for this error is firewall configuration.
Check the XP and/or any third party security software you may be running.
You should not enable the XP firewall if you have a third party firewall.

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, but there are other possibilities too. What
antivirus products do you use?

If no help yet, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely:

Thanks for your help, I have managed to enable print sharing, which i was
most bothered about. The only problem I have now is that both my desktop and
laptop can veiw the files on the desktop, but neither can veiw the shared
files on the laptop. I am using PC Guard for antivirus, and Zone Alarm for a
firewall.
