Workable solution

I have a program that worked fine using XP Pro under both a limited
user acct. and an admin.

I am now using Home Edition, and the program only works if I open
the .asm files as an Admin.

When I asked the author about it, he said that "the program needs disk
access."

It seems kind of silly going to an Admin and then going back to a L.U.
acct.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Andy

This is very common if you are using old DOS based program. The
workaround I have always implemented is by making the installed folder
of that application SHARED on the network. To achieve this, follow
these steps:

1) Log in as Admin;
2) With your Windows Explorer right-Click on the folder where the
application is installed (Normally C:\BP or C:\Program Files\BP
where BP is your application folder.
3) Select Properties, then Sharing tab
4) Under Network Sharing & Security, tick both boxes
5) Click OK

Now log off from the Admin account and login to your limited user
account and then try to load that application.

Thanks hth.

The sharing and security pick was grayed out under the Home Edition.

I added my L.U. acct. with full control of the directory with
the .exe.

Have a great day,
Andy
