People are not able to read wordperfect attachments I e-
mail them - anyone know what to do?

you don't give any information to help (error messagest the see, what
they tried, etc.)

they need:
1. Word Perfect
2. Microsoft Word
3. any other program that can read Word Perfect files, e.g. the free
Openoffice or maybe find a Word Perfect viewer program or something.

You could help them by sending them:
1. RTF format
2. Word format (from Word Perfect I guess this possible)
3. Convert to Adobe PDF for them
4. if attachment small, don't send as attachment and included as text
in email.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

They are not able to read them if they don't have WordPerfect installed and
you are sending them files saved in WordPerfect's default file type which is
likely proprietary. Instead, save the document as a Word File (doc
extension) or a text file and they should be able to read it on their system
without having WordPerfect installed.

What ever word processor program you use, all can read files
saved as RTF files.

It also helps if you include some instructions about the
file type, the program you used to make it and how to open
it.
"This file was created with MS WORD and is a .doc type. To
open this file , open your word processor, then use the
file/open menu to select and open the file. Your word
processor will convert the file, if necessary, and open the
file." Something similar whether you use Corel WordPerfect
or MS WORKS should work.

It also helps if everybody is able to read and speak the
same language, English for example.

Probably beacuse they don't have WordPerfect installed.

anyone know what to do?

There are several choices: tell them to buy WordPerfect: switch
from WordPerfect yourself to whatever your friends use; stick
with what everybody has, but use "Save as" in WordPerfect to save
documents and send them in a format that your friends can read
(such as txt or rtf).

In order for your friends to be able to read your attachments, no matter
what word processor they have or do not have, convert them to pure text
before sending them.
