word2007 links to excel

Chad

I have word docs with links to excel files. The links were set up by copy
from excel and paste special/link/unformatted text into the word file. The
files reside in the same folder and we'll call that folder "blanks". When
files from blanks folder are copied into folder called "active" the links
from the word are going back to the blank folder. This did not occur using
Word 2003 but we just converted to Word 2007.

Another odd side note, the excel files are linked as well and these links
work fine. However, if you open an excel file and a word file at the same
time, the links from my excel file will then incorrectly revert back to the
blanks folder.

Hi Chad,

The behaviour is unchanged - that's exactly how it worked with earlier versions too. To change the link sources, you can press
Alt-F9 and edit the link paths (eg using Find/Replace), then press Alt-F9 again to toggle the field code display off, followed by
Ctrl-A, then F9 you update all the fields, or you could use my Field Link Updater, available at:

We must be misunderstanding each other because I set this up four years ago
as a template to audit the Municipalities, District Courts, etc. in the State
of Pennsylvania. Each set of files (40 to 60) have hundreds of links and we
do about 2,000 audits per year. Trust me, I know this works in Office 97-03.
It doesn't work in Office 2007.

Hi Chad,

The only other things I can think of are that it had something to do with either:
1. the setting of a Hyperlink Base; or
2. a macro in the underlying template that updated the link paths.
