Normal template has created another template called ~$ormal, which creates
rogue documents whenever Word crashes. It reappears after I've deleted it.
Any ideas?

When Word is open, Normal.dot is in use, so an "owner file" called
~$Normal.dot is created (for more on owner files, see “Description of how
Word creates temporary files†at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=211632).
If Word crashes, this file will be left open, but it should be deleted after
you restart Word and clsoe it normally. Owner files created by documents
will also remain open; they can be deleted manually, or they will be deleted
naturally if you reopen and close the corresponding document. The other temp
files Word creates will not be deleted after a crash unless you do it; see
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm
